ELIGIBILITY FOR BF WORKFORCE REGISTERS: this course will be accepted to renew your Safeguarding requirement on the BF Coach, Team Manager and Welfare Officer registers if you have attended and passed the full version of one of the accepted safeguarding courses in the last 3 years (click here to find a list of these courses). WHO IS THIS RENEWAL COURSE FOR?

  • Specifically for British Fencing registered Coaches, Team Managers and Welfare Officers that have already completed their first SPC course face-to-face (please read Terms and Conditions for detailed information on this). 

  • This online renewal course is also suitable for you if you are a fencing coach, student, sports official, sport leader, parent or volunteer, aged 18 or over, interested in learning about Safeguarding in a fencing environment or seeking additional CPD (Continued Professional Development).

ABOUT THIS COURSE

  • Essential prerequisite for all British Fencing registered Coaches, Team Managers and Welfare Officers
  • Provides essential information to anyone working with children in a fencing context looking at legislation, best practice and how to deal with safeguarding concerns
  • In line with UK legislation and guidance 
  • Can be completed at your own pace within 30 days from the start date
  • Provides a downloadable e-certificate, valid for 3 years from the date of issue

 


 

  LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Explain what is meant by safeguarding and protecting children in sport
  • Understand the different categories of child abuse
  • Articulate key strategies to reduce occurrences of child abuse in sport
  • Explain the actions you should take when abuse is suspected
  • Describe how coaches, referees and team managers can stay safe while dealing with children

     


 


ACCESSING THE BF LEARNINGZONE

  • Your full name and email address will be used to set up a BF LearningZone account for you to access the course
  • Your login details will be emailed to you up to 2 working days counting from the date of booking and payment of the booking fee.
  • You will be enrolled in the course by the same time you receive your login details.
  • You will have access to the course for 30 days counting from the day you were enrolled (same day you received your log in details).

Terms and Conditions 2020/21
 
Bookings for British Fencing Courses will be accepted on a first come first serve basis.
 

PLEASE NOTE your booking will NOT be confirmed unless payment for the full amount has been received.  Payment must be received before commencement of the course.

 

You take full responsibility for ensuring you truthfully meet the criteria above.

Full details about the online renewal course and instructions on how to sign in to British Fencing's LearningZone will be sent out prior to the commencement of the course. 

After sending your details through the booking form, you allow BF to use your first name, surname, and email address to create a BF LearningZone account for you. 

You will be enrolled in the course on the same date your BF LearningZone login details are emailed to you. The course will be available online for 30 days from the enrolment date. Once your access to to the course has been removed after that period, you will not be able to access any part of the course, including the final test. 

 

You must achieve a minimum of 75% of the test to pass the course and receive a certificate, which will be issued in a digital format and considered valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Once you submit your test, you will not be able to return and complete it again. 

 

This is a refresher course and the issued certificate will only be accepted for the purposes of the Coach, Team Manager and Welfare Officer registers if you have attended and passed a face-to-face safeguarding course no more than 3 years before plus a 3-month grace period. You may be asked to provide the certificate obtained in this previous face-to-face course for your refresher's certificate to be accepted for any of the BF registers. Cancellation: Once a confirmed booking has been made, cancellation terms apply, in line with the UK Consumer Rights Act (2014):

  • Your can cancel your booking within a 14-day cooling-off period from when the transaction has been completed
  • A full refund will be issued if:
    • You have requested it within the 14-day cooling-off period
    • You have not completed or attempted to complete the course and any tests

In the event where British Fencing has to cancel or postpone a course for any reason, we will offer you a full refund of the amount paid or invite you to choose another available course/event. 

  

British Fencing will not be held accountable for any costs incurred for your participation on this course in the event the course is withdrawn or rescheduled.
