ABOUT THIS COURSE

 

The Coaching Fencing Level 2 course is based on a modular approach with a combination of theoretical and practical content. The course consists of:

 

4 days on course delivery (32 hours) plus 1⁄2 day home study - approx 35 hours in total.  

 

AIM OF THIS COURE

 

To provides coaches with the knowledge, skills and attributes to effectively coach individual lessons to young people or adults within a club setting which develops coaching skills and the technical & tactical aspects of defence and attack applicable to club fencers to a development and talent Id level. 

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES 

 

By the end of this course, you should gain a better understanding of how to:

  • Run groups sessions, safely and with a purpose.
  • Plan player centered sessions for beginners/intermediates within a club type setting.
  • Deliver individual weapon specific lessons/coaching.
  • Deliver sessions using coach process skills.
  • Correct Level 2 specific fencing tactics and techniques.

 

ENTRY LEVEL RECOMMENDATION

  • 18+ with a British Fencing Level 1 or the British Fencing Introduction to Coaching Fencing Award. 

 

PRE-REQUISITES FOR REGISTRATION AS A BRITISH FENCING COACH

 

Please note that British Fencing uses "minimum standards for active coaches" in its coaching framework. If you would like to become a British Fencing Registered Coach, and therefore have adequate insurance cover for your coaching delivery, you also are required to hold:

  • A valid membership to British Fencing.
  • Current SCUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate or equivalent.
  • Current Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate.
  • A valid criminal records check.

Terms and Conditions 2022/23

 

 

Bookings for British Fencing Courses will be accepted on a first come first served basis.

 

PLEASE NOTE your booking will NOT be confirmed until payment for the full booking dee has been received.   

 

If you have any issues with payment for a course then please contact [email protected] or call +44 2087 423032 / +44 7487 569388. We will aim to respond during our opening times (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).

 

If a course is full, your name will be placed on a reserve list. If a place then becomes available you will be notified firstly by email. Please therefore ensure you include a valid email address when placing your booking.

 

Full details about the course and directions will be sent out 7 days before the course.

  

Cancellation: Once a confirmed booking has been made cancellation terms apply as follows:

 

·         7 days before the workshop/course full refund

·         5 days before the workshop/course - full fee is payable

·         Non attendance - full fee is payable

 

If, for any reason, we need to change the course venue once you have booked, we will notify you as soon as possible. If the new venue is not acceptable to you, you will be entitled to cancel your booking and to receive a full refund provided you cancel within 48 hours of our notification and we will have no further liability to you or any other person.

 

We reserve the rights to withdraw a course if there are insufficient numbers or to postpone a course if the Coach Developer is ill, indisposed or in other exceptional circumstances. 

 

In the event where British Fencing has to cancel or postpone a course for any reason, BF will offer you a full refund of the amount paid or invite you to choose another available course/event. 

 

Charges for this course are for the course attendance only. Travel to the course, the cost of accommodation, lunch and all other expenses are your responsibility unless we state otherwise in our course or event booking form for the particular course or event.

  

British Fencing will not be held accountable for any fees incurred for your participation on this course in the event the course is withdrawn or rescheduled. 

 

BF may reject your booking if you don’t meet the entry level recommendations on age and fencing or coaching experience. Please contact [email protected] if you have questions about these requirements.  

 

Equipment is not provided by BF and must be supplied by the candidate. All equipment must be safe to use and no refund will be made if a BF Coach Developer has not allowed a candidate to participate due to unsafe equipment. Therefore, please ensure your equipment is safe to use before you bring it to the course.
